Building Safe, Colorful Family Attractions at Space World
Space World’s signature raft slide was designed to combine high guest capacity with a sweeping, visual spectacle. The process began with advanced engineering studies and site layout planning, ensuring the slide’s curves, slopes, and runouts could accommodate multiple rafts, maximize space, and meet international safety standards. CAD and ride simulation software helped model water flow, rider speed, and g-forces—supporting a thrilling, but safe, ride profile for diverse age groups.
Fiberglass slide components were prefabricated using resin-transfer molding technology, which creates perfectly smooth, shiny slide surfaces that minimize friction and provide comfortable, high-speed runs. Color schemes and translucent applications were chosen for dynamic visual appeal and easy guest orientation. On-site assembly involved cranes and scheduled install teams who anchored the slides atop concrete pads, secured steel supports, and sealed joints for watertight performance. Final touches included water pump installation—as slides rely on a looped pump system to supply and recycle water from the ending pool to the launch point.
Now open to the public, Space World’s raft slide delivers exciting multi-turn journeys and safe splashes for riders, supporting high throughput and rapid queue turnover. The project’s success demonstrates the importance of blending creative theming, simulation-led design, and rigorous manufacturing practices to create top-tier water park experiences.
